L.A. STORY: Students at Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles have started an intriguing project to catalog literature from and about the city. "We feel that we can make a pretty compelling argument that a great deal of good writing has emerged and is continuing to emerge from Los Angeles," says the site (http:// update.msmc.la.edu/english/ LAliterature/f02/default.htm). Included in the project are "photos, maps, background information - even video clips - of places where stories take place and L.A.-based characters roam."
